Welcome to the former Issaquah Ground Water Advisory WEB site!
(The Issaquah GWAC)

The GWAC is made up of citizens representing the Issaquah community, industry, water user groups, special interest groups, and local, county and state government. The committee was formed in 1989 and has been meeting since, with the dual responsibility of overseeing the development of the Issaquah Ground Water Management Plan and carrying out the public involvement phase of the plan which seeks to educate the public on issues relating to groundwater, aquifer protection and water conservation.

Notice of Name Change

After ten years of Ground Water Advisory Committee meetings and actions the Issaquah Creek Valley Ground Water Advisory Committee has completed its tenure. The Committee members who were appointed by the Department of Ecology in 1987 to develop the Plan will have completed this mandate when the plans are certified by the State of Washington this spring.

The goal of the Ground Water Management Program is to protect ground water quality and assure ground water quantity for current and future uses. This work has only begun!

After consulting with King County staff, Department of Ecology staff, Department of Health staff and current committee members the Issaquah Creek Valley Ground Water Advisory Committee (commonly referred to as the GWAC) will become The Issaquah Creek Valley Ground Water Advocates Coalition.

The name will be changed, the membership will be expanded but the goal will remain the same. The forum for this coalition will be high tech and low cost. We hope this page will become a virtual town meeting to support implementation of the Ground Water Management Plan and to provide information sharing and public education. We will report on local issues related to groundwater and provide refereed answers for questions on groundwater issues. We look forward to your participation.
